“
From the Sand to the Surf”
ACES,
inc. and Pure Vibes Special Needs Therapeutic Surf Instruction presents
Surf Camp, an eight-week program designed to promote positive
social interactions and gross motor development for children with special
needs. Surf Camp is a unique and comprehensive program developed
by two Master’s level supervisors and a licensed occupational
therapist. Surf Camp meets once a week for three hours where
children will engage in age -appropriate gross motor / fine motor /
sensory activities, small group crafts, games and discussion relating
to beach and ocean themes. During group activities, children will be
assisted by two trained behavioral tutors and a Master’s level
supervisor to aid the children in engaging in social interactions with
one another.
In addition
to group activities, each child will receive one-on-one special needs
therapeutic surf instruction from Richard Sutera, a special educator
with 20 plus years of ocean experience and currently holds a certification
in infant, child and adult/AED First Aid and CPR. One-on-one surf instruction
is customized for all ages and disabilities to promote coordination,
strength, balance, gross/fine motor control, and sensory integration.
